MEIBI Hakone Yumoto

Unwind and recharge yourself in an area surrounded by nature and peace.
Less than two hours away from Tokyo you can find Hakone Yumoto, a historic town with multiple natural hot springs to escape from your busy everyday life.
It is a popular destination for day trips, but with so many things to do it is hard to visit all tourist attractions within one day. Why don't you take a rest after a long day of sightseeing and continue your journey the next day? MEIBI is only an 8 minute walk from Hakone Yumoto station and located right next to the Haya River. We provide discount coupons for nearby hot springs as well!

Access from Tokyo
■ By train
Take the Romance Car (Odakyu Railway) from Shinjuku station and get off at Hakone Yumoto station (train ride is approx. 85 minutes). From there on it's an 8 minute walk to MEIBI Hakone Yumoto.
Since the Romance Car is a limited express train with reserved seats only, you will need to make a reservation. You can reserve a seat online, or at the Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center inside Shinjuku station. There is a ticket booth on the train platform as well, however it is advised that you arrange a seat at least one day ahead of time.

■ By bus
Take the highway bus at Shinjuku station west exit to Hakone Yumoto. If you're lucky, you can catch a glimpse of Mt. Fuji on your way!

■ By car
We have a designated parking area right next to the property for our guests. Please note there is only one parking spot available per room.
If you come with more than one car, please park the other vehicles on the left side of the parking area, along the riverside.

For the latest fares and departure times, please check the Odakyu website or Japan Travel NAVITIME app.

- Shotengai (shopping street) right at the exit of Yumoto station, great for souvenirs or a quick snack - especially the manju (steamed buns) are popular
- Ajisai Bridge gives you a fantastic outlook of the Haya river and is accessible within one minute from Yumoto station if you take the exit that leads to the bus stops
- Open Air museum
- Owakudani which is famous for its active volcano and black eggs - recommended to take the Hakone Ropeway to observe the volcano activity from a close distance

- Sengoku Plateau to take Instagrammable photos of fields filled with silver grass - especially pretty in fall when the grass turns honey-colored
- Odawara Castle
- Ashinoko Lake
- Hot springs (onsen) to relax after a long day of walking before you head back to your accommodation for the night - each hot spring has a different type of water, so for the ultimate experience it is best to look up which water is most effective for the symptoms you wish to treat

Dining
- Deli & Cafe Mitsuki - located near the station, this food court has a wide variety of both Japanese and Western dishes. In February / March you can enjoy the landscape filled with cherry blossoms from the terrace seats. Recommended menu options are their burgers (vegan options available) and tofu shake, a milkshake made from soy milk. As Hakone is famous for its clean and clear water,  you can find many dishes that use tofu which are made with from this clear water.
- Hakone Jinenjyo Yamasoba - this place is popular by both locals and tourists and uses only local ingredients for their soba noodles. All noodle dishes can be ordered hot or cold. For the tsuyu, they use three types of bonito to obtain the ultimate umami flavor.
- Amazake Chaya - this tea house is a little remote from Yumoto station, but we definitely recommend to make a stop here if you plan to visit Lake Ashinoko. It feels like you have travelled to the Edo period as soon as you step into this 400 year old tea house which is famous for its handmade amazake (sweet rice drink). Perfect to pair with a plate of mochi (sticky rice cake) that comes in the flavors black sesame seed, soy sauce, and sweet soybean powder.
- Yubadon Naokichi - located right across Yumoto station, this shop is famous for its tofu and yuba (tofu skin) dishes. Their yubadon has been featured by several media and receives high rankings.
